Amy Jatzlau MD

Board Certified Pediatrician
Dr. Jatzlau started private practice in Giddings and joined the staff at St. Mark’s Hospital in La Grange shortly after finishing Pediatric Residency in July 2004.  She graduated in 1993 as valedictorian from Fredericksburg High School, where she was born and raised. She attended Texas A&M University, graduating magna cum laude in 1997 with a BS in Biomedical Science.  She then completed medical school with honors in 2001 from Texas A&M HSC, College of Medicine.  In 2004, she finished her residency in pediatrics at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas. Dr. Jatzlau received the ‘Intern of the Year’ award after her first year and served as Chief Resident her final year of training. Upon joining the St. Mark’s staff, she served the birthing center until it closed in 2017.  She was chief of nursery care. She was also on the hospital executive committee for four years, serving as Chief of Staff one year. 

Dr. Jatzlau is married to Warren Jatzlau, originally from Giddings, who works in real estate, construction, and ranching.  They are blessed with 2 children.  Madison attends Texas A&M University majoring in business and is a member of the Texas A&M Softball team.  Holden attends Giddings High School where he competes in varsity football and baseball while working hard academically as well. The family enjoys outdoor activities, ranching, sporting events, and attends FBC Giddings.

Barbara Johannessen

Medical Assistant, Billing
Mrs. Barb joined Dr. Jatzlau as the primary billing staff in 2006.  She has over 25 years experience in the medical field.  She is happy to work on your behalf to ensure proper payment from insurances.  She is also a team player and will join the front office staff when needed. She is married to Charlie and they have 3 daughters, 6 grand-kids and one great-grandchild.  She enjoys time with family and quilting. Nora Pedraza—Medical Assistant, back office procedures and direct patient care

Nora joined Dr. Jatzlau in 2008 and has served diligently since.  She has over 20 years experience in the medical field.  She loves our patients and gives her heart to help Dr. Jatzlau provide personal, compassionate care for your child.  She gives vaccinations, facilitates referrals, and helps with communication from Dr. Jatzlau regarding telephone questions and medication needs. She and her husband Ricky have 4 children.  They enjoy family time and outdoor activities including fishing at the lake or coast. 

Nora Pedraza

Medical Assistant
Nora joined Dr. Jatzlau in 2008 and has served diligently since.  She has over 20 years experience in the medical field.  She loves our patients and gives her heart to help Dr. Jatzlau provide personal, compassionate care for your child.  She gives vaccinations, facilitates referrals, and helps with communication from Dr. Jatzlau regarding telephone questions and medication needs.

Joanie Garza

Medical Assistant, front office, Appointments
Joanie joined Dr. Jatzlau in 2017 to perform front office duties. She also has years of experience in pediatric clinic care.  She works tediously to meet your appointment needs and to maintain proper insurance/demographic information ensuring proper billing and health records.  
She and Vicente have 3 children. She is also considered a ‘mom’ to many of her friend’s kids, opening up her home to provide ‘hugs and grubs’.  The family enjoys time together and many sporting activities.
